Announce
Change of Date and Location
For Special Electing Convention
December 6, 2005
-- The Rt. Rev. John P. Croneberger announced today that the
Special Electing Convention date has been changed to
Saturday, September 23, 2006, from the originally scheduled
date of September 16. The change was made after
consultation with the Transition Committee.
"The Transition
Committee states that it feels strongly that the Special
Diocesan Convention to elect the Tenth Bishop of Newark be
held in the City of Newark. As Bishop, I concur.
On the date set for the Special Convention, Saturday,
September 16, 2006, it is not possible to obtain suitably
large accommodations to hold the convention in Newark.
Appropriate space is available in Newark on Saturday,
September 23. Article II, paragraph 2 of the
Constitution of the Diocese of Newark grants me the
authority to set the date of Special Conventions. It
therefore is appropriate that this minor adjustment to the
schedule be made."
The special
convention will open with the worship service held in
Trinity + St. Philip's Cathedral, 608 Broad Street, Newark,
New Jersey. The business session will convene in the
Grand Ballroom of the Robert Treat Hotel, 50 Park Place,
Newark. The hotel is in very close proximity to the
cathedral and located on Military Park. Additional
details about the electing convention will be made available
at a later time.
A reminder that
the deputies elected to represent your congregation to the
132nd Annual Convention held this coming January 2006 are
the deputies who will attend the special electing
convention.
